I about died when I saw this week's theme. This past weekend, my family drove down to visit my cousin and to celebrate his son's 1st birthday. I took some pictures to document his special day! Luckily his parents put blue frosting on his cake, because he totally DUG into this cake and smeared it all over his face. This shot isn't even the worst of it. I just love his look here and you can really see those baby blues. It was the funniest thing ever and we think he could walk away with thousands on America's Funniest Home Videos! I am so glad I caught these shots of him! Enjoy!

Rory.....
As you read in an earlier post....Cohen has a stuffed hippo named rory that makes his life complete. He takes him everywhere he goes. To make sure nothing ever happened to rory, we bought a couple more just in case. Lately, we have 2 that he uses, but only one at a time. Till now. He's just figured out that we have two and he loves to carry them both around. I even found both of them in his crib the other morning when he woke up. He was soo excited.
Well, this morning was no exception. He found both rorys and decided he wanted to even eat with them. He cried and cried until I let him share his breakfast with him. He was sooo happy and I will admit, it was adorable. So I had to get my camera out to document this lovely event. Enjoy!

Little Sienna
As many of you know, I am babysitting a little girl throughout the week. She is adorable and has the most gorgeous eye lashes I have ever seen. They look fake. Lucky!!! =) Today while Cohen was taking a nap, we decided to have a little mini shoot. Yes we. She totally wanted to! haha....She's at a nice age, where you can still prop them up and they'll look when you call their name. Unlike a 13 month old child, who just purposely looks away.
I thought it would be fun to take some pics of a baby girl since I haven't had that opportunity very often. They turned out adorable. I had to sort of make her bow and diaper cover. Hey, don't judge...we don't have any girly things in this house. =) I used what I had. Enjoy the preview! =)

Fun ideas!
I am always trying to come up with new, fun, unexpected things to get people for their birthday. It's a hard and sometimes stressful process...but soooo worth it when you see their face when they open your gift. Last week was my littlest sisters 18th birthday. I can't even believe it when I say it. She can't be 18?!?! She is such an amazing girl and has sooo much going for her. I am so excited to see where this next year takes her. So for her special "big girl" birthday, I thought it would be fun to use photography to show her how much I love her. She just redecorated her bedroom a couple months ago, and has a really fun and funky theme going on. One thing about Emily is, she doesn't settle on just one style and doesn't like the traditional looks. She has her own taste and WORKS IT! Her new room is awesome and shows her style throughout. I wanted to get her something for her new room that fit her style but added a new flair! Since photography and design are my passion....I was so excited to try something new. I have always loved Andy Warhol's famous painting with the four squares in different colors, and the same image inside each square being a contrasting color. I KNEW Em would love it and that it would pop in her new room. I was so excited when it turned out awesome! =)
The best part about this gift was that it was easy and I didn't have to go out and buy something! I used what I had and added a little creativity to make something special and unique. I love homemade gifts and love to give people things that I create. I challenge you to try to come up with something made by you and your creativity! (yes you can be creative) It's so rewarding when someone LOVES your gift, but so much more if you created it yourself! So start now, and come up with your own design.

Weekend with the cousins
We were lucky enough to spend this past weekend in Naperville with my family and Cohen's closest cousin. Drew is 7 weeks younger than Cohen but you'd never be able to tell if you saw him. He's about 2 inches taller and 7lbs heavier than Cohen. He's the sweetest little guy ever and so much fun to play with. He loves to give kisses and hugs and Cohen doesn't exactly know how to react to them. It's so cute. I about died when he came up to him and kissed him. If you know Cohen, he just stands there with that infamous "serious thinking" look on his face. haha....cracks me up! =) They swam in the pool on the GORGEOUS day and played on the swings. We had a blast and hope to have a ton a play dates with them as they grow up. It's so great that Cohen has a cousin so close in age.

Just peachy...
Well life in the toddler world definitely has it's joys and it's challenges. One day you're up, and one day you're down. Especially when it comes to food. Ooooohhhh gosh...talk about a challenge. I cringe when I have to think about making Cohen lunch and dinner. He is so picky and always wants the same things....fruit, cheese tortillas, and grilled cheese. On an up day, he might try some chicken or ravioli...but today, wasn't into ANYTHING. Just blueberries, and mixed fruit. So while I fixed 3 different lunches for him today...he denied me everytime. urgh...=( In the midst of my frustration, I told myself...it's fine if he wants only fruit today. Just smile and load up the fruit.
Well yesterday, I went to the grocery and was so proud of myself because I picked the 6 best peaches they had. Yes, the top 6! Plus, they were on sale. YAY! So this afternoon, in the midst of my frustration...I thought, I'm not going to give him fruit in a cup again....NO...I'm going to cut up this beautiful, scrumptious peach, and give it to my starving son. What a nice mom. To sacrifice my own treat for my child. So I cut up the juice filled peach, in perfect little squares, and put it on Cohen's tray full of 3 lunches. He went in for a couple and then THREW THEM ON THE FLOOR....if you are not familiar with a toddler, this means...."I'm not eating this crap!"
I about died. This about sums up the day I've had today. Ohhhhhh the joys of motherhood. But while my day hasn't been the best, and I still have dinner yet to make, I still got to eat my peach. Even if it was leftovers from my picky, disgraceful =), child....I still got my treat and it tasted just as good from the floor as it does on the first bite.
So my lesson from today....when life gives you a peach....cut it up, throw it on the floor, and eat it. Savor it. You won't have this time forever, so savor every minute. A little dirt won't hurt. It only makes you appreciate the full, untouched, peach more.
Hope you all have a peachy day and very dirty peachy weekend. =)

My Little Man
My little man in all is glory. Introducing his best friend Rory. We don't leave home without him. He's a hippo, (even though everyone thinks he's a dog or a bear????) and he sleeps with Cohen every night. I knew I needed to catch the two of them together, so why not a little photo shoot outside on a walk. haha....so adorable. He's growing up so fast and is learning new things everyday. Enjoy the pictures.
This picture melts my heart. He's the sweetest boy in the world. Love him!! =)
